Megawatt & Fireflies

Oh my, the post title sounds like a book for teenagers. It isn’t – it is two of my long sought after lemmings: OPI Fireflies and OPI Megawatt?!. Without much further ado I invite you to see for yourself why I just plain simple had to have those.

Klingt wie ein schlechter Liebes-Schul-Roman für 13jährige pubertierende Mädchen Aber nein, es geht heute um 2 Lacke, die auf meiner Liste standen, und Liste ist codewort für MussIchHabenSonstSterbeIch. Heute präsentiere ich euch stolz: OPI Fireflies und OPI Megawatt?!

Pinkie and Middlefinger: Fireflies; Ringfinger and Index Finger: Megawatt?! / Kleiner Finger und Mittelfinger: Fireflies; Zeigefinger und Ringfinger: Megawatt?!

Both are 2 coats on top of Zoya Kelly, which is grey. Fireflies is more on the greenish-bluish side, while Megawatt?! can be dirty toxic yellow or yellowish gold depending on the angle. I love both and will be playing with them a LOT in the future, that’s for sure!!

Ich habe immer 2 Schichten von jedem Lack über Zoya Kelly (grau) aufgetragen. Fireflies schimmert grün-blau, je nach Lichteinfall mal mehr so, mal mehr anders und Megawatt?! kann alles: dreckig giftig gelb oder gelblich golden, je nach Blickwinkel.. Ich finde beide wahnsinn und werde sicher noch viel ausprobieren mit beiden OPI’s… oh, ich will die Fläschchen gar nicht ins Regal stellen…

Let’s sing her praise: Zoya Kelly

Oh, guys, what a relief! Zoya Kelly is a dark grey, and ever since China Glaze Pelikan Grey bubbled away on my nails, I was in constant fear of grey polishes. But, behold! Zoya Kelly came to rescue. Seriously, in terms of application: Top, Coverage: 2 coats, Top!, Longevity: 3 days and only minimal tipwear: Top! Colour: looooove it! Anything else you wanna know?

Ach, warum ist das Leben nicht immer so einfach Nachdem mir Pelikan Grey von China Glaze das Leben zur Hölle gemacht hat, weil er wie ein isländischer Vulkan Bläschen gespuckt hat, dachte ich, dass ich nie ein gutes Grau finden könnte. Aber dann kam Zoya Kelly und hat mich vor dem Verzweifeln gerettet (ich liebe nämlich Grau!). Vom Auftragen her verdient Kelly die Note 1, Deckung: 1+ (2 Schichten für einen dunklen Creme Lack! großartig), Haltbarkeit: nach  3 Tagen kein Splittern, daher auch 1+, und die Farbe: mega!

What did Goodlacknail wear to fit her Saree?

You remember that I asked for colour advice? / Erinnert euch noch, dass ich umRat bezüglich einer passenden Nagellackfarbe gefragt habe?

First things first, this is me in the Saree. It was horribly warm, so I refuse to show my face!

And now let’s reveal my nailpolish for the occasion! / Und nun aber zum Nagellack, der mich so brav auf diese Hochzeit begleitet hat!I’m wearing Teal the Cows come Home from OPI, except for on my Index finger I wore OPI Go on Green as an accent. The combination looked really nice with the Saree.. and my pedicure, as I wore Sexy in the City from China Glaze on my toenails.

Schlussendlich habe ich mich für Teal the Cows come Home von OPI entschieden, und als “Akzent” am Zeigefinger habe ich Go on Green auch von OPI gewählt. Hat super zum Sari gepasst (und zur Pediküre, da hatte ich nämlich Sexy in the City von China Glaze drauf, das ist auch so türkis blau); also alles blau an diesem Tag; something borrowed, something blue, right?

OPI Pirates of the Carribean Stranger Tides

Since Austria is always far behind in getting the new nailpolish collections, I can only show you the Stranger Tides Mini Collection from OPI now, since I received it yesterday! I ordered the minis because I wasn’t too impressed by the colours – not only do they NOT remind me of the movie, but also they aren’t really summer-y colours (like the China Glaze Summer Collection!). Anyways, I have for you today (from left to right): Sparrow me the Drama, Skull & Glossbones, Stranger Tides, Planks a Lot.
Nachdem wir armen, armen ÖsterreicherInnen ja immer total vernachlässigt werden bezüglich Limited Editions – weil’s bei uns immer länger dauert – ist es wohl nicht so schlimm, dass ich euch die Pirates of the Carribean Kollektion von OPI erst heute zeige Ich wollte die Lacke nicht alle in großen Fläschchen haben, denn ich bin von den Farben nicht so überzeugt, denn ich finde, dass es nicht echte Sommerfarben sind, da sie alle so gedeckt wirken… Außerdem weiß ich nicht, warum genau diese Farben zu einem Action-Liebes-Komödien-Piratenfilm passen sollen. Wie auch immer, heute für euch: Sparrow me the Drama, Skull & Glossbones, Stranger Tides, Planks a Lot.

On my Index finger: Planks a Lot; Middlefinger: Stranger Tides; Ringfinger: Skull & Glossbones; Pinkie: Sparrow me the Drama. In terms of application, they were all fine; only Stranger Tides and S & G needed 3 coats for full coverage. The other 2 only needed 2 coats.
Zeigefinger: Planks a Lot, Mittelfinger: Stranger Tides, Ringfinger: Skull & Glossbones, Kleiner Finger: Sparrow me the Drama. Vom Auftragen her waren alle Lacke gut, nichts besonderes zu vermerken von meiner Seite. Stranger Tides und S&G brauchen 3 Schichten um rundum deckend zu sein, die anderen brauchen nur 2 Schichten.

I didn’t want Mermaid’s Tears, because I saw swatches and really, it IS just another mint colour. Even with the Silver Shatter on top it doesn’t make me drool over it. I think that all of the colours from the mini Collection will be perfect in Autumn or for work, where I can’t wear too bright colours anyways. All in all, it’s a nice collection, just not really amazing. I seriously can’t wait for the Muppet Collection to be released!!! Check the Preview on AllLacqueredUp! And, obligatory question, what do you think about the Stranger Tides Collection? Friend or Foe?

Ich hatte kein Interesse an Mermaid’s Tears, der am Meisten gehypte Lack aus der Kollektion… vor allem, nachdem ich die Bilder gesehen habe – Mermaid’s Tears ist wirklich nur ein weiteres Minzgrün, das nicht wahnsinnig besonders ist, auch nicht, wenn man den silbernen Cracklelack darüber gibt. Um ganz ehrlich zu sein, mit dem Tragen der Stranger Tides Kollektion werde ich auf den Herbst warten, denn im Herbst sind gedeckte Farben mehr angebracht und passend; oder vielleicht einmal in der Arbeit, denn da sind ganz schreiende Farben ohnehin nicht so angebracht. Zusammenfassend: Nicht meine Lieblingskollektion. Ich warte lieber auf die Muppet Kollektion diesen Winter – seht euch den Preview bei AllLacqueredUp an! Follow Goodlacknail!), but I was in Mumbai, India, last week – to visit friends, attend a wedding, and shop myself to death Apart from the “usual” clothes shopping, my focus was on nail polish – maybe discover something I don’t know yet! My friends took me to New Beauty Center (S.V. Road, Khar) where I bought this:

Some polishes called “Miss Claire Power Lasting” from Korea, Lakmé polishes, one polish called Étude, 2 from a brand called VC Vitamin Colour, one which I bought because the bottle is funny and 3 polishes from NYX.

Pink Wednesday: Too pink to hold ‘em?

Initially I wasn’t gonna get any of the polishes from the Texas Collection from OPI, but you know how it is with us nail crazes, we don’t want to get something and then we come by it anyways and then all hope is lost… So on this online “fleamarket” all OPIs from the Texas Collection were only 7,2€ (that is only in Austria; other places you pay 16€ a piece!), which made me get 3 of the pink/red coloured ones: Too pink to hold ‘em, Houston we have a purple, Do you think I’m Tex-Y and later I got the Little Shooters Collection (Too pink to Hold’em, Austin-tatious Turquoise and I Vant to be a Lone Star) from my friend E.
OPI calls these “sorbets”, which means jelly, but sounds better. And they do look delicious on the nails… and are very very shiny! Unfortunately they are all kind of sheer, so I had to put on 3 coats, and you could still see some nail line – but I figured it doesn’t matter so much because the polish basically looks as if I was wearing lip gloss on my nails.

Ursprünglich wollte ich die Texas Kollektion von OPI ja auslassen, weil ich von den Farben nicht so begeistert war – und dann habe ich meinen guten Vorsatz aus dem Fenster geworfen, weil ich beim “Flohmarkt” war, und dort gab’s die ganze Texas Kollektion verbilligt (Nachsatz! Eigentlich dachte ich, dass ich bei diesem Flohmarkt ein paar alte Lacke ergattern kann…). Jeder Lack hat 7,2€ gekostet – das ist zu Douglas-Preisen fast billig… Wie auch immer, ich habe dann die 3 Rot/Rosa-Töne Too pink to hold ‘em, Houston we have a purple und Do you think I’m Tex-Y erstanden. Ein paar Tage später habe ich dann die Little Shooters Mini-Kollection bekommen (Too pink to Hold’em, Austin-tatious Turquoise and I Vant to be a Lone Star) von E. Statt keinem habe ich nun also 5 Lacke aus der Texas Kollektion. OPI behauptet, dass es sich bei 6 aus den 12 Lacken um Sorbets handelt; darunter fallen auch meine 3 Rosa/Rot-Töne. Sorbet bedeutet dasselbe wie Jelly – die Lacke sind nicht deckend, aber dafür sehr glänzend. Ich habe auf den Fotos 3 Schichten drauf und man kann die Nagellinien schon noch sehen; es fällt aber nicht besonders auf. Im Großen und Ganzen sieht es so aus, als hätte man sich Lipgloss auf die Nägel geschmiert

One of the great purple polishes of our time

is, IMO, Meet me on the Star Ferry from the OPI Hong Kong Collection. It looks so-so in the bottle, but it holds its secret back: on the nails in the sun you’ll find the mystery revealed (The mystery: why it is called Meet me on the Star Ferry and not only Meet me on the Ferry). Let’s take a closer look! (btw: this is 2 coats, basecoat is OPI Envy Me, topcoat as always my friend SV).

ist, meines Erachtens, Meet me on the Star Ferry aus der OPI Hong Kong Kollektion. Der Lack sieht zwar im Fläschchen nur sosolala aus, aber er verbirgt ein Geheimnis! Betrachtet man den Lack auf den Nägeln in der Sonne, dann erklärt sich von selbst warum er Meet me on the Star Ferry und nicht Meet me on the Ferry heisst. Aber seht selbst (2 Schichten plus Unterlack OPI Envy me plus Topcoat SV)!

in daylight, but no direct sun: so-so. Typical office polish: not nothing, but not thrilling either. / bei Tageslicht, aber ohne direkte Sonneneinstrahlung: sosolala. Irgendwie typischer Büro-Lack; nicht unlackiert, aber auch nicht auffällig.

Holo-crazy!

I’m spamming you guys with pics today, if you want it or not. I own 6 holo polishes from the China Glaze Kaleidoskope and OMG Collections, and I couldn’t decide which one to wear so I decided to do a skittle manicure with all of them! I call it skittle manicure because manicures with 5 different colours remind me of a package of skittles I wear L8R G8R on my pinkie, 2Nite on my ring finger (full 2Nite manicure here), on the middle finger I have Octa Gone Wild, on the Index finger you can see QT and on my thumb I have BFF. I loved this mani, so colourful and awesome in the sun!

Heute lasse ich mal wieder die Bilder sprechen – ohne viele Worte zu verlieren! Ich habe 6 holographische Nagellacke, teils aus der OMG Kollektion, teils aus der Kalleidoskop Kollektion, beide Kollektionen von China Glaze. Weil ich so viele habe, konnte ich mich nicht entscheiden, welchen ich auf den Nägeln haben will, deswegen habe ich einfach alle genommen (und musste nur einen wieder ins Regal verbannen ). Ich finde, wenn man 5 so frühlingshafte Farben auf den Nägeln hat, sieht das aus wie eine Packung Skittles – ich nenne es deshalb eine Skittle Maniküre! So. Kleiner Finger: L8R G8R, Ringfinger:2Nite, Mittelfinger: Octa Gone Wild, Zeigefinger: QT, Daumen: BFF. Die Holos finde ich echt super, vor allem dann in der Sonne! Gutes Wetter rocks!

The vampiest polish of all times

hmm yeah which one could that be? For me it’s not a bright red but black with red glitter. It attracts attention like crazy, even more than Illamasqua Collide, and Collide is – wait for it – neon pink. So let me tell you which colour I crowned to be Vampiest Polish of all times (VPoaT): China Glaze Lubu Heels. Seriously, gorgeous: black base, red glitter, perfect!

hmmmm… welcher Lack könnte das wohl sein? Mir fiel das Wort “vampy” sofort ein bei – nicht wie erwartet einem roten Lack, sondern - einem schwarzen Lack mit rotem Glitzer! Der Lack zieht Blicke magisch an, sogar nochmehr als Illamasqua Collide (der ja, wie wir wissen, neon pink ist!!). Um welchen Lack handelt es sich also? China Glaze Lubu Heels verdient den Titel Vampiest Polish of all times. Not like the Movies

Rainbow in a bottle!

I guess most of you have seen the Katy Perry Collection from OPI up and down in every possible way from all angles everywhere. Still, it is a very pretty collection and worth getting the attention – I love Teenage Dream, but I think Not like the Movies didn’t get the attention it deserved. I mean, C’mon, it’s green, its purple, it’s grey, it has golden microglitter! It’s awesome! So there you go, extremely pic heavy post coming up, in daylight, with 3 coats of Not like the Movies!

Bei uns ist die OPI Katy Perry Kollektion bisschen unter den Tisch gefallen – klar, die Farben sind nicht die Alltagsfarben, die man jederzeit tragen kann, aber so what?! Teenage Dream ist ein super Glitzerlack, einer meiner absoluten Favourites. Und dann kam ein Black Shatter Lack mit der Kollektion raus, über den gab’s dann auch tausende Posts (nur um das klarzustellen: Shatter Lacke sind nichts für mich, mir tut das in den Augen weh…).. aber Not like the Movies hat nicht die Aufmerksamkeit bekommen, die dieser Lack verdient hat. He, ganz ehrlich, der ist silbergrau, lila und grün! Und er hat goldene Glitzerpartikel drinnen! Wie arg! Deshalb lassen wir lieber die Bilder sprechen: 3 Schichten von Not like the Movies bei Tageslicht!
