Purple with a Peacock

Purple with a Purpose from OPI was one of those polishes that I received as a gift, from people who know about my nail polish obsession but think I can still be saved from complete nail polish insanity.

But how come they picked this polish? I asked for any cool nail polish, maybe in a fun, crazy or extraordinary color, and this is what I got: shimmery purple. Isn’t it amazing how we all have a different idea of the words crazy and extraordinary? But I’m not ungrateful for it, as I wouldn’t have picked it myself and it is a lot of fun to see what you get when you ask for a fun color! I think this is why I love surprise swapping with my two M’s and my one H so much, because I never know what I get! Anyhow, before I get lost in my thoughts about what I would have and wouldn’t have bought, let’s review the polish, no?

Purple with a Purpose. Stunning purple, shimmery finish (maybe a bit on the metallic looking side, you can see some brush strokes if you look closely), easy peasy application. Really. The application was spot on. Some of my OPIs are from super old collections and the application of those is difficult and annoying, so I forgot how spot on the new OPI formula actually is. Even though it is purple, I must say I love it!

I had to put some glitter over it obviously, so I picked Icings Lemme see your Peacock. Well. The name. Seriously? And then the glitter isn’t so awesome as everyone said. I prefer After Party, because it’s more fun – Lemme see your Peacock is just a mix of purple, teal and green glitter in a clear base. I didn’t like it very much I have to admit. It performed well over Purple with a Purpose though. 1 coat. What do you think?
