butter LONDON Autumn/Winter 2012 – Gobsmacked, Shag and Lovely Jubbly

Luckily I received all the 5 new autumn/winter shades from butterLONDON in the mail while I was gone for the summer, so I am happy to show you the first three today! The other two are holographic shades, so I’ll keep those for Saturday’s Weekly Dose of Holo.

First up is Gobsmacked, which is another word for speechless/utterly astounded – it has another meaning, which would be “being kissed on the mouth by surprise”, according to the Urban Dictionary. I used tow coats for the pictures below. I don’t think I have to say much about the application – you must know that I am a big butter LONDON fan girl, and none of the polishes I own has given me mentionable application issues. Gobsmacked is somewhat of a charcoal glitter in a charcoal base, interspersed with small silver glitter. The polish dries quickly and with a gritty texture, think rough sand paper. If you don’t want to use topcoat, you’ll have an almost matte look. I prefer my nails smooth, so I opted for the topcoat.
I have so many grey polishes by now, I was excited to find out that I actually have nothing like it in my collection! Apart from that, I am convinced that grey will always be a good color to have in a nail polish collection, even in a small sized one, and I was very happy to wear Gobsmacked.

Lovely Jubbly means excellent, when a person heard good news or has a streak of luck. The polish looks accordingly, very celebratory. It consists solely of glitter, mainly magenta, but it is mixed with other glitters, such as blue, gold, light blue, etc. I used three thin coats, and it dried super quickly. For me, it is the pinker version of OPI Absolutely Alice. I also absolutely adore glitters like this. Also, I just found the glitter removal base from essence, so I didn’t have any problems removing this!
When I saw this, I thought to myself, finally there is such  happy pink glitter – I was frankening some, but none turned out similar to this, so I was super happy to be able to add this to my collection.

Shag (I guess we all know what this means, and if you don’t, you might just not be ready for it!) is an interesting polish. It is almost metallic, almost brown, just a bit of orange, and definitely very autumnal (that’s a word! I didn’t know that until now!). OPI Deutsch you want me baby? is much more orange, and much streakier in comparison. What I really liked about this polish is that it covers in one thick coat or two thin ones, that it has this glow from within and that it dries streak-less. You know how I feel towards browns, so you’ll understand that I’m not head over heals for Shag (pun intended), but if you’re searching for a fall color and you don’t like orange too much, this seems to be your best pick.

The three polishes reviewed above were provided to me by the butterLONDON Germany PR Team free of charge. Nevertheless, the opinions expressed above are solely my own. I didn’t get paid to say butter LONDON is awesome. I was of the opinion before. You can find butter LONDON polishes here or in your local Müller Store or at Douglas.
