Braided Fishtail manicures popped up all over the nail polish blogs since early summer, I think. Eventually I decided to try one as well, and since I was wearing a holographic polish anyhow (more on that one later!) I decided to try the braid manicure with three of the KIKO holographic polishes, which are part of the Lavish Oriental Collection that was released in August, I think.

I used KIKO 399 (Silk Taupe), 400 (Steel Grey) and 401 (Peacock Green). The names of the KIKO polishes can be found on the KIKO website, but not on the bottle itself.
The holographic effect is less visible because of the brushtrokes and the many different layers of nail polish, but it is still there. I didn’t mind it overly much, as the certain glow that holographic polishes tend to have, was still there.
The braid manicure is actually rather easy. You apply the brushstrokes as you would braid someone’s hair, starting at the half moon area of your nail (I started with the teal holographic polish).
It takes some time to finish, but if you do all your nails at once, apply the same brush stroke to every nail alike, then it won’t take too long.
For this manicure, I applied the colors like this: blue – charcoal – nude – blue – etc. If you want to follow a step by step tutorial, just google it, there are many talented tutorialists

oh fuck that’s just awesome!
