The (or, my first) Saran Wrap Manicure

Seems to be the summer of fun nail designs, don’t you think? Apart from the fishtail braid manicure, this manicure stole my attention: The Saran Wrap Mani. It’s super easy to do and looks really cool!
For my saran wrap manicure, I chose KIKO 335 (Ink Blue) as a base. It’s a very vibrant jelly-like blue that applies easily and covers in two coats (if you don’t mind a bit of VNL).

I then put a drip of the pistacho green shimmer polish from the YSL Duo 07 (green & brown, called “menthe & chocoloate”, from this summer) on a piece of plastic – I use old CD Covers, plastic bags, etc, whatever is at hand – and dipped  a rumpled up plastic bag in the polish. Then I dabbed that on my nail, and voilà! A finished saran wrap manicure, without saran wrap.

On my ringfinger I tried a different material, aluminium foil. I rumpled it up a bit, dipped it into the polish and dabbed that on my nail. The pattern gets more rough when using the aluminium foil.

I like both options equally, but I think I will use them differently – the aluminium foil especially when I want the basecolor to shine through, and the plastic bag or saran wrap when I want the topcolor to be more prominent.

If you don’t really have time to change your nail polish or if you have tipwear, or, if you’re just up for something new, this is an easy and quick way to improve your previouse manicure. Will you try it?
