Pure Street Magic

Today I’ll show you a polish that I thought looked fairly boring in the bottle, but it’s actually one of the most amazing and sparkly things I’ve seen!

I started off with two coats of Make Up Factory 512, a brand you can find at Müller. They are about EUR 10,- so I never bothered to pick up one, because the colors never looked worth it. I found this olive green with a hint of golden shimmer on clearance, so I tried it out. Verdict: It’s alright. If I find some truly great colors, I think they’d be worth the EUR 10,-.Makeup Factory 512_1

Then my genius self decided to layer Girly Bits Street Magic over it. Oh my, that is amazing, and I don’t even care for duochromes (I’m boring, I know). The green sparkle just won me over in a heartbeat.Makeup Factory 512_girly bits stormy skies_1

I have tried working with color shifting pigments, but I just mix polishes for fun. This one on the other hand shows how much time Pam from Girly Bits must have invested in her polishes, because it’s amazing.Makeup Factory 512_girly bits stormy skies_2

Why is it amazing? The formula is great. The polish is easy to apply, dries quickly and to my beloved glass-like look. Makeup Factory 512_girly bits stormy skies_3

I used only one coat of Street Magic over Make Up Factory 512, and the results are great. This picture below is my favorite!Makeup Factory 512_girly bits stormy skies_4 Makeup Factory 512_girly bits stormy skies_5

Sunday Spam: Nail Art ‘exercises’

This Sunday I won’t show you a color family or a special brand, no, I’ll show you my stamping and nail art exercises that never made it on the blog as a full post. Some of them are recent, but most of them are long ago so please ignore the variating nail lengths. Hope you’ll enjoy!

[if you want to see more, or stuff more recent, follow me on instagram: @goodlacknail  and/or twitter:.@goodlacknail]

butter LONDON Disco Biscuit (over Dior Lucky) has blue microspecks in the pink jelly base, so I figured, why not point that out and add blue hearts? The Image is from the Red Angel Plate #114, and I have absolutely no clue what I used as a stamping polish. Most probably my beloved sally hansen quick  Color Quick Fast Dry Nail Color Pen in blue.

Urban Decay Miss T (goooorgeous blue toned pink, shimmery, 2 coats), stamped with the golden sally hansen Color Quick Fast Dry Nail Color Pen (it really is a mouthfull…!). No idea where the image was from, but I do remember the tragic and sudden death of my middle finger nail that led to those super nubs.

Candy Wrapper Nails! Some coral creme polish, topped with Nfu-Oh 049 (the flakies!), and again stamped with the golden sally hansen Color Quick Fast Dry Nail Color Pen and an unknown image from an unknown plate. Very awesome manicure if you ask me.

Not an exact failure but also not a success was the combination of sally hansen be-jewelled and the stamping design. Maybe I shouldn’t have picked black as a stamping color, or I should have picked a more subtle design, but this didn’t last long on me, as I assume you can understand.

In my eyes, p2 Night Out is one of the best dusty dove-colored cremes there are. Hence the crooked gradient with H&M Confetti Kisses, Spoiled Use Protection and Deborah Lippmann Mermaid’s Dream looked awesome too and I wore it until it had almost grown out. We both know I’m exaggerating, but we also know that “long” is relative, no?

This was actually my Christmas manicure last year. For more entertaining pics, click here.

Horrible picture but I still love the combination and idea: Girly Bits Razzle Dazzle, 2 coats, stamped with a Red Angel image (don’t know which plate # anymore, sorry) – the image looks as if it was floating atop a ping sea of glitters. I’ll have to re-create this sometimes!

Same as above, I don’t remember which stamping plate this was, but I loved the subtle image over Chanel Peridot.

Chanel Attraction was not loved as much as I think it should have been loved, mainly because it is a frosty pearl white, and, as you can see, dries streaky – maybe I’m weird sometimes, but I love it despite it being streaky and frosty. Somehow this made me want to experiment with dots, so I used ANNY Ocean Blue, sally hansen teal-y fast and Funky Fingers Blue Raspberry Taffy and this is what came out. A dot gradient? Shall we call it that?

Of castles and mothers

While I am away, rocking’ the Rock en Seine Festival (Placebo was so awesome!), I will show you some more polishes I didn’t wear there. I forgot the camera cable at home so I will show you all of my manicures a bit later. Meanwhile, follow me on Instagram to be up to date! I love your comments :)

Today I want to show you another IsaDora polish that I bought twice (once for me, once for a swap) when I was in Poland. I have a great liking for IsaDora polishes, as their quality really justifies the price and some of the colors they make are quite outstanding! This one is called Chateau Grey and it is a soft grey with just a teensy bit of silver shimmer so it stands apart from a regular grey creme. I love greys lately and this one was no exception. I used two thin coats but I could’ve gotten away with one had I not applied a thin coat first (for security reasons, you never know, right?).
After some time I decided that I want to change my manicure and I decided that Girly Bits Mother May I? would be a perfect match. You can find news about Pam’s polishes and a link to her shop here.  I used two thin coats of this pastel lilac polish which is filled with blue hex glitters, turquoise square glitters and smaller round magenta glitters. All the glitters disperse perfectly and the polish is really really pretty. It’s a purple that even I would wear, mainly because the glitter combination is so much fun to look at.

What do you think? Have you tried Girly Bits polishes yet?

My 1st Blog Anniversary! Part 7

The Giveaway week(s) is coming to an end! This Giveaway sponsored by Pam (Girly bits) is the last one for my anniversary.

I would like to thank all of you, old and new readers, who have entered the Giveaways and left such kind comments. I love reading all the comments, and I’m happy that you like the Giveaways! Considering that so many new readers have joined me here on my little blog, I have another Giveaway planned soon. I can’t pass the 500 readers on facebook mark and leave that uncommented now, can I?!

Pam from Girly bits kindly sent me 3 nail polishes of her choice for the Giveaway. You can find Pam here. I’d dare to say that Pam makes remarkable glitter polishes, and I’m always excited to see what she comes up with next! The ones she picked for the Giveaway are: Mother, May I?, Vive la Revolution! (which is a LE shade!) and Daddy’s Girl. Again, this Giveaway is open for everyone.

The Giveaway is now closed.

Holland in a week: Part 2

Remember that I promised you my take on the OPI Holland collection? Well, Let’s get started. (You can click on the pictures if you want to see them closer up!)

OPI Vampsterdam:  a little streaky, but a beautiful vampy marron/purple/plum colour. Despite me not wearing this type of colour much, I really, really like it. Sometimes I surprise myself…! The colour reminds me of the small posts that drame the sidewalks of Amsterdam.

What I decided to do was to layer Del Dol Trick-or-Treat over it. I didn’t like this colour changing glitter by itself, but I was surprised by how much I like it in combination with Vampsterdam. This might just be one of my favourite layering combinations ever! (I’d advise you to enlarge this picture; it looks like a funky universe; eternally orange or something like that)

The other colour I decided to show you today is OPI Red lights ahead…where?. It’s a bright tomato red creme, opaque in two coats.
The Red Light District in Amsterdam has lights in many different shades of red, and actually the city of Amsterdam has tried to shrink the whole Red Light District by starting a project called “Red Light Fashion”.  In some of the former windows used to advertise sex work, you can see designer pieces, which is very special and a creative idea. Plus you get to see designer wear close up, and you get to know young designers! I think it’s perfect.

As the Red Light District in Amsterdam was historically the place to go for sailors upon arrival in Amsterdam, what polish would fit better than Girly Bits Sailor’s Delight? Sailor’s Delight is a sheer orange with an immense amount of golden and orange shimmer in it. It adds so much depth to Red Lights Ahead…Where?, it is truly amazing. I lovelovelove the combination!

Did you like my layering ideas?
