How I wore it: W.I.C. by Herome Pune

Check out my Giveaway!

I love my trips to Amsterdam for many reasons. One particular one - not the main one, but definitely a plus – is the easy availability of WIC by Herome polishes. I’m drawn to slim high bottle shapes, I assume. Let’s leave it to Freud to interpret that. Anyhow, WIC by Herome launched an India Collection a while back, and I absolutely had to get Pune, where my friend M. lives (yes, yet another M in my life).

Pune (or Poona) is  a city close to Mumbai. You can reach it in approx 4 hours by car from Mumbai, depending on traffic of course. The drive to Pune takes you over a couple of hills, which are full of lush green trees. If you drive by night however, you’ll be racing through slow heavy lorries that toil long and hard to make it to the mountain tops.
WIC by Herome Pune_Shiseido rouge parfait tourmaline_2

The color of Pune, the nail polish, is very versatile. It reminds me of one of the OPI James Bond collection polishes as well as of one of the winter IsaDora polishes, silk road I think? Anyhow, I love the mix of blue, pink and gold particles – that’s what it comes down to – because the polish looks different at every angle.
WIC by Herome Pune_Shiseido rouge parfait tourmaline_4

I decided to wear this polish with a blue outfit, so I picked my light blue work blouse (Montego, Peek & Cloppenburg), and a light sweater from WE that has sort of a waterfall collar .
WIC by Herome Pune_Shiseido rouge parfait tourmaline_5

I matched that with purplish-blue pants from GAP, which have a medium blue stripe on the side. The shoes are from Humanic I think. Edit: Cate Gray or Grey. The thingy in front came off and they aren’t nearly as comfortable as I thought they would be when I tried them on, so I don’t think I’ll be buying those (aka from that brand) again.
WIC by Herome Pune_Shiseido rouge parfait tourmaline_3

As these lip lacquers or glossy stains or whatever they are called are so super hip at the moment, I decided to try some too. I received 6 testers from Shiseido, so I could make up my mind about the colors and consistency. Here I am wearing Shiseido Rouge Parfait in the color Tourmaline. I am certain that many people will wear and love this color, but I absolutely hate it on me. I will talk more about the product when I’m showing you a color I like, otherwise I can get so bitchy :)

PS: Enjoy this picture of me when I don’t feel like posing anymore.  WIC by Herome Pune_Shiseido rouge parfait tourmaline_6

How I wore it: butter LONDON Fiddlesticks

Have you entered my GIVEAWAY yet? It is open to all end everyone, check for details here. (Plus you can win Chanel Diwali…. just sayin!)

If you’d ask me why I decided I liked butter LONDON polishes so much, I probably wouldn’t be able to tell. I do like the colors and the quality, but for the price (at least in Austria!) you’d easily find something in an equal quality range. Nevertheless, I have taken to these polishes – they somehow seem to last longer on me than others, and they apply nicely. Also, they have a small brush, which I like, and the shape of the glass bottle appeals to me. So after this long introduction of my thoughts on butter LONDON, here is Fiddlesticks!
butter LONDON Fiddlesticks_1

Fiddlesticks is a pink (almost magenta) jelly with immense amounts of pink glitter. It doesn’t have a too glittery look, so you can wear it without any hesitations.
butter LONDON Fiddlesticks_2

I used two coats and one coat of topcoat, that was  sufficient. As my fingernails are “far” away from my shoes and tights, I figured I could easily pair Fiddlesticks with a darker red color.
butter LONDON Fiddlesticks_3

The dress is  one that I drew and had made in India. Even though I loved the idea of the dress, it is not fitting me too well anymore. It fit better with more kilos on, now it’s a bit loose. I hide that with wearing an oversized jacket (from Oysho).
butter LONDON Fiddlesticks_4

The supercool extremely (for me) high shoes are from Ravel (which I buy through asos) and the tights are from H&M. I’m wearing a KIKO lipstick but I forgot which one. Love the shoes, now that I think of it. I should really wear those more often.butter LONDON Fiddlesticks_5

How I wore it: Pretty Serious BSOD

Whenever T. and I meet, we exchange polishes. This is a fun thing to do – we each get to wear new nail polishes without having to buy them, so it is great to find out if we like something or not. This time she borrowed me Pretty Serious BSOD, which is quite sparkly and blue!
pretty serious BSOD_1

I used two coats of BSOD alone, which is sufficient to cover completely.  I loved how sparkly it was, and that the blue was so vibrant! I tried one of the red polishes from Pretty Serious already, and I didn’t like it as much.
pretty serious BSOD_4

As Pretty Serious is an indie brand that entered the market recently (compared to OPI and China Glaze and such), I didn’t expect the packaging and bottled to be so professional! I must say I was quite positively surprised. The caps are rubberized and the glass bottles dont have the label stuck-on, but it is printed. The name of the polish is clearly written in the bottom of the bottle.

pretty serious BSOD_2

I wore this polish on a Sunday, because I don’t wear bright blue glitter to work. That left me with more work-inappropriate dressing choices, so I went ahead and wore my old adidas jacket again. I bought this so long ago that it could be hip already again.
pretty serious BSOD_3

The jeans are from a brand called 8mm. The brand name refers to the needle spacing (the distance from one needle puncture to the next). The shoes are my beloved chelsea boots from asos. If I keep on wearing them that often, they won’t last until next winter.
pretty serious BSOD_5

I’m also trying new poses. What do you think of this one? I call it “the musicle star before singing the last, heart-breaking solo before the last, heart-breaking duet”.pretty serious BSOD_6

How I wore it: Jessica Lime Cooler and Cique XX

So, for Easter, my mum bought me a hat. I always wanted a hat, but I didn’t know what style to pick, or which color. So my mum said, let’s go, we can walk to the next village (we don’t celebrate easter in Vienna), and we can buy you a hat. So we went.

We walked through the still wintry landscape, but it was sunny and soon we needed a lime cooler. Luckily, Jessica was around and she had some ready.
Jessica Lime Cooler_Cirque XX_1

We loved the happy fresh green of lime cooler, so we had two. Coats weren’t necessary anymore, it was getting nice and warm.
Jessica Lime Cooler_Cirque XX_5

Between the two villages, we saw a Cirque. It had all kinds of animals, but they spoke English only, so we just blew them two kisses XX and went along our way.
Jessica Lime Cooler_Cirque XX_2

In no time we reached the hat maker. My mum said, try this one!, and if fit. So now I am the proud owner of a handmade blue fedora, and I look pretty Don Draper.

How I wore it: KIKO 646 Starry Black

Sand Style, Liquid Sand, Sugar Matte, Texture, and who knows what other names companies will come up with for gritty glitter. First we all hated it, now it’s the coolest thing in the world! Well, I’m not guilt-free, and I also jumped on the gritty matte bandwagon.
KIKO 646_2

I ordered some KIKO polishes with the help of nail polish friend K., and I felt like putting this black with silver glitter one on first. It is called Starry Black and has the number 646.KIKO 646_1

As the polish is rather monochrome, I decided to pair it with a black and white outfit. I chose white shoes from Dorothy Perkins – we call them Budapester, I don’t know if you call them that as well. They are pretty awesome and as I assumed they won’t be available long, I bought the same pair twice, just in case. This is my first pair, but I think they won’t survive many more seasons.
KIKO 646_3

The pants are from H&M, the blouse is from WE and the cardigan is from H&M too. I really liked the cardigan when I bought it, because of the nice lace inlay over the shoulders, but it somehow got broader, and now it looks a bit out of proportions. I hate it when clothes do that, I feel like I bough crappy quality.
KIKO 646_4

Well. Here’s my interpretation of a jump on the bandwagon. I didn’t really know what to do or how to pose, so this is what came out of this. Thank you B. for making me make a fool of myself, always fun! ;)
KIKO 646_5

The ring I’m wearing is super dangerous btw. It seems like a cute little rabbit, but the material has such sharp edges, I actually cut my finger with those murderous ears.

essence Floral Grunge TE

essence releases TE after TE again, it seems to be a spring-thing. Today I’m showing you the Floral Grunge TE.

It seems more and more that essence focuses on a target group of girls aged 7 to 13. I am not at all interested in the TE’s they put out if I’d only judge by theme. I mean, what’s floral grunge? Dead flowers? The ghost of a rabbit in a flower bed? Grunge music to which hippies dance? A happy emo? The cyber goth movement? I can’t answer any of this, but I am certain that puberty-ridden girls will find something as undefined as this interesting. For a fact I know that I would have, and I am ashamed to admit it. Luckily, growing up is inevitable.

essence Be flowerful. 2 coats. A shiny coral-orange pastel polish. 3 coats. I assume this is part of the “floral”?
essence floral grunge be flowerful

essence Black to the roots. Ah, the word joke. So funny. Black (…) polish with silver glitter in there that dries gritty and matte. It has a sticker saying that this is supposed to be textured, but it really isn’t. It looks more like a lab accident (aka the whole jar of silver glitter fell into the matte black nail polish! Oh no! What shall we do! How about we call it texture. No one will notice.). 2 coats.
essence floral grunge black to the roots

essence Grunge me Tender (no comment on this name. I mean, really.) is a pale mint shade with some shimmer-adding particles. It dries rather anticlimactic to something between shiny and matte, but definitely not to a suede. It is also amazingly patchy, you can see that even at 3 coats.
essence floral grunge grunge me tender_1

essence Lily Bloom, a white polish with a little bit of shine that doesn’t transfer on the nail all too well. Less patchy than the mint, but still not amazing. 3 coats (and no idea what “the pearl” means – a sticker on top of the bottle – this doesn’t look pearly to me).
essence floral grunge lily bloom

essence Madly Purpled – now finally, this is a success. Medium dusty purple, dries matte, with shimmer, so it doesn’t look flat. Easy to apply, dries quick, 2 coats. If you pick one from this TE, pick this one.

How I Wore it: Zoya Tracie

Do you also sometimes want something to work really badly and then it doesn’t? I have it on a regular basis. Firstly, I was really looking forward to wearing Zoya Tracie. I love the soft green color, and the fact that it is not another light green creme.
Zoya Tracie color club_2

I also wanted to wear an accent nail. Figuring it would fit together nicely with Zoya Tracie, I chose color club Holiday Splendor as an accent.
Zoya Tracie color club_1

In effect, I didn’t like Tracie on me, and it looked awkward with Holiday Splendor as an accent nail, mostly because Holiday Splendor leans more towards turquoise.
Zoya Tracie color club_5

Also, a third thing that didn’t work that day, was my hair. I had just blow-dried it, and it does this tiger-mane thing, that I hate.  I like it better when it stops looking as if I just put my hand in a socket.
Zoya Tracie color club_3

Basically, the only thing that worked for me that day, was my outfit. I really liked it – I tried wearing a necklace over my blouse for the first time, and I think it looks fun. The necklace is a gift from my mum, it comes with a corresponing bracelet, but I think that’s a bit much to wear at once. The pullover is from GAP, the blouse is from de bijenkorf, the jeans are from WE.
Zoya Tracie color club_4

What do you think, should I give Zoya Tracie a second try, or just call it a day? And should I have paired this outfit with some polish that would fit the necklace better? I think so…

Sunday Spam: Catrice new blues and greens

For this sunday, I have some of the new(er) Catrice polishes to show you. I saw some on other blogs, but some of the colors look rather different on me. I wonder if that is because of my skintone, or if there’s a difference in some of the colors, but I doubt the latter. It’s not my lightbox settings, I swatched other polishes, and they match! Well, onto the polish, before you loose interest.

Overall information: I used two coats for each of the polishes. The new Catrice bottles have “Catrice” written on top of the bottle, in 3D lettering, so you can easily scratch yourself. Also, the bottle cap has pretty rough edges, so there’s even more chance of scratches. The new brush is, to be diplomatic, unfortunate, as well as the formula. Either the polish was too thick or it decided to take a vacation under my cuticles. All in all I wasn’t impressed.

Catrice Denim Moore is a periwinkle blue with intense silver shimmer – in the bottle. The shimmer doesn’t translate intensly on the nail, but only slightly.
Catrice Denim Moore_1

Catrice Mint Me Up was the weirdest color change for me. In the bottle it looks softer and more minty, but on me it dries quite a bit darker. Check out Oooh Shinies swatches for Mint me Up. This was my favorite by color, especially because of the awesome golden shimmer.
Catrice Mint me up_1

Catrice Petrolpolitan is a very dark teal with blue microglitter. I’m not too fond of the color itself, also this was the only one that really needed 3 coats for opacity.
Catrice Petrolpolitan_1

Catrice Goldbusters over Petrolpolitan – Goldbusters is a sheer polish filled with golden glitter specks. It’s pretty, if you want to “pimp” your polish – the silver pendant would be Orly Twilight.
Catrice Goldbusters_Pertolpolitan_1

Catrice Purple Reign – now that’s a real purple, not one of those aubergine or plums that call themselves purple. It’s packed with blue glitter, which makes the polish dry not completely smooth. You all know how I stand towards purple, so this one wasn’t for me.
Catrice Purple Reign_!

Catrice Squeeze me is a bit difficult to describe. I’d say it’s a very dark iron-blue color, with quite some shimmer in it, that I didn’t think would be visible that nicely on the nail.
Catrice Squeeze me_1

Last a little bit of an “extra”: I found this polish from a recent Catrice LE called “Neo-Geisha”. It is called Planet Tokyo and it is a frog-creme nail polish. The cap, formula and brush are “old”, so the application was a bit better. I don’t really like this kind of green, but for the green lovers out there, this might be of interest!

How I wore it: p2 confidential

Happy Friday everyone! Those of you who celebrate it, Happy Easter, and for the rest: Happy Pascha, happy Holi, happy equal marriage facebook profile pictures.

I will be searching for easter eggs in the snow I’m sure, as the weather here in Austria stays the topic of everyday conversation. It is a surprisingly long winter, and thanks to glasshouses and other great inventions, we can now eat strawberries in the snow. Luckily, inbetween the snowy days every once in a while there’s a day like the day I wore p2 confidential, a Sand Style polish.p2 confidential_1

The color of confidential is awesome. It gives an overall look of grey blue, but it sparkles pink, gold and green. The dry time was slightly longer for me than the dry time of the OPI Liquid Sand polishes. The wear time was great - I expected tip wear, but I didn’t have any, even though my nails were long (maybe too long for my taste), and I wore this for two days including typing and regular housework.
p2 confidential_2

I must admit that I find the gritty finish  still unusual. I adore polishes with this glass-like finish, so I had to get used to this matte-but-sparkly finish. Some of the Sand Style polishes look more like an accidential gritty drying glitter. Some of the KIKO Sugar Matte polishes look as if someone just poured sugar into polish. So, it’s an unusual finish one has to give a try before judging.
p2 confidential_6

I wore confidential with a blue dress I had made from a pattern from burda (which is a sewing magazine that has patterns for people with different sewing skills, and also they have decoration and DIY tips, it’s a magazine I really enjoy reading), but it is now a bit big, so I wear it with a belt.
p2 confidential_3

I made that belt from left over curtain cloth :) . Mainly I wanted a belt that I could bind in a big bow tie, or wrap it around twice and have it look a bit like a Kimono-belt. As I didn’t find anything that I liked, I resorted to taking things into my own hands! The scarf is from Nepal, it’s really soft and warm! Shoes are from Camper.
p2 confidential_4

All in all I can’t wait for spring to arrive! I don’t want to be freezing anymore, making pictures for you guys :)
