Your weekly dose of Holo: Hits Zeus

Zeus, father of Gods and Men. Quite a title, no? And big shoes to fill. Well, Zeus isn’t as strikingly (get it?) holographic as other Hits Gods,  but I guess that someone as omnipotent doesn’t need to be the prettiest of the lot.

Zeus is an almost black holographic polish. I understand that the spectraflair (that is responsible for the holographic effect) dullens colors, so that a real deep black holographic can’t be produced. Well, this is just as pretty I think! 2 coats of Zeus.above:artificial light. below:shade

Your weekly dose of Holo: Hits Hermes

Hits Hermes is a beige/nude holographic polish – not to subtle to be boring, but also not too much.  I used two coats for full coverage and I really liked this color on me. Ihatenudes on me (mostly), but this somehow works.

Hermes, just in case you wondered, is the divine messager. Maybe this polish wants to tell me that I should give nude polishes a second chance?

Your weekly dose of Holo: Hits Poseidon

2 weeks back I showed you Glitter Gal Bondi Blue and said that it wasn’t the most unique blue in the holographic nail polish universe. Today I intend to prove this by showing you HITS Poseidon, also a light blue holographic polish.  I used two coats for full coverage, and waited inbetween coats to avoid dragging. Application was easy and smooth, although some of the bristles of the brush where clearly heading in a different direction…!

I made one picture in indirect daylight, and about a million pictures in the sunlight. I narrowed that down to 4 pictures to show you today!

How I wish the sea would actually look like that! (Although it might be dangerous – blinded sailors and all…)

Your weekly dose of Holo: Hits Ares

Another red holographic polish to die for: Hits Ares. I love how the holographic effect adds this glass-look to the red polish, it is so pretty!

I used three thin coats for these swatches, and I must say that the holographic effect is  less apparent than in Glitter Gal Code Red. So for those of you who prefer the subtle holographic effect, this is it.

in daylight

We didn’t have any sunlight when I borrowed this polish to swatch, so there’s a pic under a lamp.

You can see, it’s a not a super accented linear holo, but very pretty nonetheless. What do you think about Hits Ares?

Your weekly dose of Holo: Hits Apolo

Hits Apolo is another holographic polish from the Brazilian brand Hits. The colour is similar to Glitter Gal Marine Blue. I think I would have named it Poseidon, as the blue reminds me of the deep blue sea, but hey, one can’t have it all.

I used two coats for full coverage.above: daylight, below: a little sunAre you as amazed now as I am?

Your weekly dose of Holo: Hits Afrodite

Now, this is a perfect fit, don’t you think? Aphrodite, goddess of Love and Afrodite, a pink holographic polish by Hits!

I love the base colour, as I love all things pink – and the holographic effect paints such a beautiful rainbow on the pink nails, it is hard not to swoon!

I used two coats for full coverage, the polish dries quickly and I had no application issues what so ever. Spot on genius!

above: daylight, below: artificial light, because there was no sun!Are you swooning yet?

How I wore it: OPI Skull & Glossbones stamped

Today I have another How I wore it post for you. It is a longer, picture heavy post, because it took me sometime to get my manicure where I wanted it to be – also it’s the product of a couple of days, as I kept adding layers!

I started off with two coats of OPI Skull & Glossbones, which is a chalky light gray creme. (My picture here is a tad too warm)Then – meaning, a day after – I added a layer of SOPI A color that can’t be tamed. I wore A color that can’t be tamed on its own, but it is rather sheer, so I prefer t layered. It’s one of those colors that I like to layer over my current manicure if I get bored of it.The next day, I felt something more flashy was needed, so I went ahead and layered one coat of Hits Hefesto over it. Hefesto is a sheer holographic topcoat, which means that you can layer it over anything, adding holographic effect but changing the underlying basecolor only minimally.

And on day 4 I decided to stamp over all those coats of nail polish.

I’m wearing that with a cardigan from review and a dress from tezenis, which i got on sale :) I love sale-shopping! Don’t you?

So, what do you think? Do you also have some tricks up your sleeve to make a manicure last longer? Or do you just remove the nail polish if you get bored?

Your weekly dose of Holo: Hits Artemis

Artemis, the Greek goddess of hunt, wild animals, virginity and child birth, in a nail polish? What better choice could be made than to attribute her a silvery holographic polish! So you see before you three thin coats of Artemis (the polish) – a bit streaky, but almost ethereal.

above: a bit of sunlight, below: indirect lightbelow: artificial light

Let me know what you think of Artemis!

green, green, green

Anyone up for a little hits spam? I received those polishes in a swap, and I’m really thankful that I got to try this Brazilian brand!

Funnily enough I apparently decided to swatch the green ones first. So there you go, a lot of green!

First up is Agyness, a forest green with insane golden shimmer. Very pretty! 2 coats, no topcoat. above: daylight, below: artificial light, no flash

Then we have Cyber, a vibrant grass green, also with insame shimmer. Seriously, the shimmers in this collection are amazing. 2 coats, no topcoat. above: daylight, below: artificial light, no flash

Next I’d like to show you one of the very awesome much talked about flakies from hits. They all have names from dances, this one is called Samba.  I used 2 coats, no topcoat. They hits flakies are jammed with flakies, quite amazing! Samba reminds me of a lake in the woods, with lots of plants in there.above: daylight, below: artificial light, no flash

And as a last polish for this post, I decided to show you a blue, so you can relax your eyes from all the amazing greens! This hits polish is -also a flakie- the blue Twist. Again, I used 2 coats. Make sure you let the coats dry inbetween, or you’ll end up with dragging issues!

So, what do you think of hits polishes? Are you sitting there with your mouth wide open, or did you already grab a paper and a pen to note down polish names to add to your wishlist?

Blogger Challenge PINK: Day 2 – cherry with a cherry on top

Nail Polish Blogger Challenge

Good morning! For this first really challenging day of this blogger challenge, I decided to get out my beloved Inglot flakie polish: 202. Sounds boring, is in fact super exciting: 202 is a clear base filled with small orange and golden flakies. Heaven! I used one coat of the flakies over 2 coats over OPI Do you think I’m Tex-y?, which is ‘my’ pink for this challenge.

The Inglogt flakies look their best in natural (day-)light, and I could’ve stopped there and called it a layering success, but I wanted to see how far I can go!
So I put another coat of OPI Do you think I’m Tex-y? on top:

Again, it looks best in daylight (hence no artificial light picture). The flakies reflect natural light best I think. And then, I needed to try something I had been postponing out of fear for a long time: Holo Topcoat over flakies sandwich. For this combination I decided to use Hits Hefesto. Hits is a Brazilian brand, and I got this one from my friend Samantha. Can you believe how awesome it is to have a rainbow on your nails and those flakies peeping out from underneath!!!

above: natural light, below: artificial light

Again, I couldn’t leave this be. I decided to layer another coat of Do you think I’m Tex-y? over the holo topcoat. In natural light you can see both the flakies and the holographic topcoat better than in artificial light.

above: natural light, below: artificial light

I don’t know what you  think about this heavy layering, but I love it every step of the way! The enresult looks like glass on fire I think. I never thought that layering flakies and holographic polishes could work, as both flakie and holographic polishes are somewhat of a cherry on top. So layering them over each other really is a cherry with a cherry on top!
What do you think about this combination?

Make sure to check out the other girl’s posts to see what they have come up with!
