Pink Wednesday: Joe Fresh Magenta

Fun story: I told my friend K. that if she visits Canada, she must go to a Joe Fresh store, because I received those lovely polishes from Rebecca. So she went there and apparently loved the store so much, that she even brought me a t-shirt to say thank you. How cute is that!

The polish, yes. I’m like an old lady sometimes, brabbling along, forgetting why you came here (no offense to elderly people!). This is a nail polish by Joe Fresh called Magenta. Pretty much on the spot naming, if you ask me, as it is pink and the shade can indeed be called Magenta. It is very squishy looking and almost jelly like, very vivid and I think it looks pretty cute even on nubbins!

I used 2 coats, and you can see the nail line a bit, but it isn’t too noticeable.

I decided to layer color club candy cane over it. Candy Cane is a pink glitter; actually it is differenct shades of pink. I think I can spot some silver and holographic glitter in there as well, but it might be an optical illusion. One coat.above: daylight.below: artificial light, no flashbelow: flash

What do you think? Too much glitter for the short nails, or is there never enough glitter for you?

Fresh Wave

You haven’t heard of Joe Fresh yet? Well, then you must be an Austrian Reader of mine! Honestly, I had no idea what Joe Fresh was until the nail polishes were mentioned and I received some in a swap with R. Before that, I associated “Joe Fresh” with Orange juice. Don’t ask me why, I don’t know either.

Well, enough about my weird associations – this is Joe Fresh Wave Vague. I think it might me a reference to Chanel Nouvelle Vague? Correct me if I’m wrong.

EDIT: This polish is called either “wave” or “vague”. Since Joe Fresh is a Canadian brand, I should’ve realized. Please excuse my ignorance….

I used two coats for this spot-on perfect baby blue. It is exactly the kind of baby blue my collection was still lacking, and it saved me shelling out 25€ for one of the Chanel Jeans polishes. Lucky me!

It isn’t a perfect creme polish, as there is this teensy weensy bot of shimmer in there, but for categorizations sake we can call it a creme. Agreed?

Of course, I had to layer something over it after a day or two. You all know me by now. If it isn’t pink, it can’t be left alone. I chose to layer Color Club Platinum Record over it – one of the many silver glitters that have been released recently. I quite like the combination!

So, what do you think? Hot or not?

purple, dots & glitter

My dear friend R. and I had a swap planned which went as wrong as a swap can – at least in the first place. Initially, my package never showed up at her place, but then I received it back at my place about three month after I had sent it (you don’t want to know how it looked like…!) . I had to pay the additional sending costs back to me, even though the postman could have delivered it – the package had been to R.s hometown in Canada! Then I sent it again, but the whole thing took forever. I’m glad R. never lost patience! Her package to me took a little over a week. Maybe I’ll open a complaint blog about out postal system soon…

Well, you can imagine how happy I was when I received R.s package. She included a great medium purple polish from Joe Fresh, which is a Canadian (clothing) brand. The nail polish bottles are rather short and stout, with a big white round cap – I like that kind of shape. The colour itself is called “Violet”, and it covers perfectly in two coats. I’m not the most enthusiastic purple lover, but this one is nice. I do prefer the new Catrice purple to it though, because it has more shimmer & depth. You can see it here.

Well, I felt like I needed some kind of overload manicure, so I decided to add dots (I used China Glaze Sci-Fi for the dots), and then I sponged color club Beyond the Mistletoe on my tips. Overload, really. Perfectly for what I felt like at that particular moment!

What do you think – is it too much? Or do you also have days when you feel like the more the better?
