How I wore it: BB Couture Love Bug

You all know how much I love pink, right? So let me show you a very special pink today – BB Couture Love Bug.
BB Couture Love Bug_1_1

Love Bug is a medium pink, not really baby but not barbie either. The special thing about this polish is, that there are tiny glitter particles in it, and due to it’s rather sheer and jelly like consistency, they are quite visible. Basically this polish is filled with fireflies.
BB Couture Love Bug_2_1

The pink matched the ribbon on my newly acquired dress (shopping before the Queensday circus in Amsterdam starts is just the best!) from Lien & Giel, my other favorite Dutch shop (currently I have 4 favorites). Actually, considering the amount of clothing I have per favorite, Lien & Giel may be #1.
BB Couture Love Bug_3_1

The dress has long arms, but if you just move them up, it looks just as good and can be worn perfectly fine in summer. And because it is a wrap dress, it can be adjusted to whatever size :)
BB Couture Love Bug_6_1

The slippers are from My Chatelles. I still love them, and I have been wearing them practically non-stop, so I can say with quite some certainty, that they hold up perfectly well. Even survived rain!
BB Couture Love Bug_4_1

I absolutely loved this outfit, even though maybe a year back I would have frowned on the notion that I should wear red. Funny how taste changes… Have you had a similar taste change lately? Wearing a color you wouldn’t even have ignored?

Sunday Spam: IsaDora Love!

Happy Sunday! Today I have a whole bunch of IsaDora polishes for you that I wore recently. Technicalities upfront: 2 coats each.

756-Coral Reef* is a vibrant orange. My camera hates orange, so this looks a bit washed out. Great orange creme, and as I recently decided that I like orange (in summer!), one that I’ll be wearing a lot (and surely on my toes!).
Isadora 756 coral reef_1

757-Scuba Blue* is a fun blue creme – somewhere between sky blue and periwinkle. It applies heavenly, so if you like this color, you should consider getting this. I loved wearing it, and it is also in my top summer colors.
IsaDora 757 Scuba Blue_1_1

758-Aquatic* was another win for me. It’s a dark blue creme but it looks and dries like a jelly. It’s lighter than OPI Roadhouse Blues, but still a very dark blue. It reminds me of ink… Great base for nail art too!
IsaDora 758 Aquatic_1_1

759-Atlantis*  is a turquoise/sea foam green creme. It is also very vibrant, and a great summer color. I feel stupid writing this all over again, but I really liked it, and I think it’s a very good quality creme polish.
IsaDora 759 Atlantis_2_1

805-Spraycan Blue* (over Coral Reef) is a dark blue crackle polish. All the crackles look a bit different, some burst open and leave a wide gap, while others crackle a bit more shy. This one is one of the latter, and I wore it a couple of times, but I’m rather over the crackle look.
isadora 805 spraycan blue_Isadora 756 coral reef_1

851-Gun Metal* is an olive green gold magnetic polish. I originally was head over heels for this polish – the color is totally what I love – but then slowly my love for magnetic polishes started fading, and I lost a bit of interest. Never the less, if you love this, all the IsaDora magnetic polishes I tried were worth the money.
IsaDora 851 Gun Metal_1_1

Candy Floss is a sheer whiteish pink – I get the feeling lately, that these sheer mikly polishes are having a come-back, and as much as I try to wrap my head around that, it is just not for me. Sheer and VNL after two coats? No thank you.
Isadora Candy Floss

Opal* (over essence walk on the wild side) – a sheer polish with shimmer that really comes to life over black. Not only do sheer polishes celebrate a comeback, so do these topcoats. I’m not the biggest fan, neither was I a big fan of the CND topcoats, which offer the same effect. I have one that shimmers blue, and gives me a feeling of luxury, because it’s from YSL. Hence I didn’t really need another. If you, however, don’t have anything like this yet, the shimmer particles in Opal were very dense and if you don’t mind VNL, you can wear this alone as well.

Sunday Spam: essence love

I have accumulated quite some essence swatches, so I’m going to show you these today!

Let’s start with the reloaded essence nail art twins. First up is Edward, a periwinkle blue creme. I don’t know what the reloaded part is supposed to be, except that they changed the bottles (I liked the old ones better, but ok) – that’s fine by me, in my opionion it didn’t need reloading anyhow.
essence edward_1

essence Bella, shown here over Edward. Finally a woman on top!
essence bella over edward_1

essence carrie - everyday pink creme, all good here.
essence carrie_1

Mr. Big on top of Carrie. No wonder one doesn’t see much of carrie anymore!
essence mr big_essence carrie_1

essence Romeo, a dark purple creme. A good solid purple creme. Not as romantic as I imagined Romeo to be!
essence romeo_1_1

essence Julia over Romeo. Super sparkly and definitely my favorite glitter topper from the nail art twins!
essence julia_essence romeo_1_1

essence colorbration. I wore this some time back and I had forgotten how green and sparkly and cool it is. Definitely under my favorite essence polishes!
essence colorbration_1_1

essence copper’ize me (over Love&Beauty light blue) is a sparkling mix ov multicolored tiny glitters that look different over every polish. This is my favorite nail art special effects topper (quite a mouthful!).
essence copper'ize me!_love & beauty light bue_1

essence it peace is from the urban messages collection, still my favorite essence collection. The strong blue shimmer that you can see in the bottle is less visible on the nails, but this is never the less an amazing coral – even more so because it works with my skin tone!
essence it peace_1_1

essence street styler, also from the urban messages collection, is one of the best turquoise/aqua polishes I have. it has tiny silver specks in it and it amazingly vibrant. Plus it applies super nice.
essence street styler_1_1

Now, did you expect so many good words about essence from me? There are so many nice polishes from essence, but lately their TE’s haven’t been so amazing. I’m sure it will turn around again, and you’ll read more happy posts from me.

How I wore it: El Corazon Eggs of Wild Birds and Easter Eggs polishes

So what happens when one makes pictures for a certain event and then the pictures aren’t used? One shows them to you guys. You’ll appreciate my crazy metallic blue lips and awkward poses, I’m sure.

Today I’m showing you some El Corazon polishes, which I received from their PR. I’m super excited about those Eggs of Wild Birds polishes and Easter Eggs polishes that they have, so this is going to be a biased review: I already knew I’d love the look!

El Corazon 423/102* (turquoise), El Corazon 423/101* (yellow) – those are both from the Easter eggs collection. El Corazon 423/96* (white) and  El Corazon 423/91* (taupe) are from the Eggs of wild birds collection. The pink is Cult Nails Devious Nature.

El Corazon is a russian brand. It’s pretty much as cool as Dance Legend, plus they also have holos, and glitter, and the whole shabang. The Eggs of wild birds and Easter eggs polishes apply like a dream, dry quickly and glossy, and are generally pretty cool. Plus I really love the look, so I was sold even before I tried them.

For my absolutely everyday makeup, I decided to paint my nails in a beautiful blue paste I made with a pigment from Inglot (really simple: it’s the electric blue pigment, readily available at Inglot stores) and Sealing Gel from Illamasqua. Let me tell you, it was a b**** to remove.
El Corazon 423_102 (turquoise) 423_101 (yellow) easer eggs_423_96 (white) 423_91 (taupe) eggs of wild birds)cult nails devious nature_1

People who passed me by were all smiling. I wonder why. I’d totally wear this look everyday if it wouldn’t make me afraid of my own image in the mirror or give me a beautiful floater-aura. I’m wearing btw: pants from WE, t-shirt H&M, shoes Cate Grey, sunglasses Marc Jacobs.

I wish it was this sunny again! I know I will complain about the heat once it’s there, but now I’m busy complaining about the constant rain.

Random Nail Art

Today I want to show you some random stuff I wore – nail art related! Yes, I sometimes do that too!

For this nail design, I used a fan brush. I have no idea what to use them for except this particular nail design though. I just added drips of polish on to an old CD-Cover, then brushed through them with the fan brush and then wildly applied that onto my nails. I used DermaNails Violet Metalico, Colorama Clubber, Colorama Noite Africana and Colorama Retangulo Verde, all polishes my brother brought me and (handpicked himself) from his trip to Brazil.   The base is Spa Ritual Calm & Clear (now not anymore).

I still haven’t given up on striping tape, even though I have zero patience for it, nor do I have tiny fingers or any skills to work with it. Never the less, here is what I managed. I absolutely hate the difference in level of nail polish, but that’s what you get with striping tape. I most probably will never do this (design) again. The base color is KIKO 329, the first stripe is China Glaze Sea Spray and then Butter LONDON Lady Muck.

Here is a ruffian – I love ruffians, but I find it hard lately to pick good color combinations. I either tend to go tone in tone, or I pick horrible color combinations that really only work in my head. With this ruffian, I didn’t pick. I just used two polishes that my mum brought me from a trip to the UK. I adore the gold polish – Max Factor Ivory – , and the purple – Max Factor Diva Violet – fits perfectly underneath (that little purple I can deal with easily).

Your weekly dose of holo: Make Up Store Britta

Happy Saturday! Today I’m going to spam you with a fiery holographic polish from Make Up Store.

This is the beautiful Britta in indirect light.
MakeUpStore Britta_4

She becomes more and more beautiful in the right setting, for example if you throw some flash light at her.
MakeUpStore Britta_5

What really fires her up is sunlight. It looks amazing how the rainbow emerges on my nails, when the sun hits it. I’m still fascinated by the effect, as I was when I was a child and we had slap-on-wristbands in a silvery holographic material.

How I wore it: SpaRitual Calm & Clear

I haven’t worn SpaRitual nail polishes in so long, even though I have some that I absolutely adore.

My new project is, however, to wear all my nailpolishes once and then decide if we’re a match made in heaven. So for today I picked Spa Ritual Calm and Clear.
SpaRitual Calm & Clear_Shiseido Rouge Parfait Ballet_2

Calm and Clear is a sheer pink nail polish, that builds to opacity in 3 coats. It dries quickly and not patchy, which I appreciate! The color is very soft and somehow reminds me of cotton.
SpaRitual Calm & Clear_Shiseido Rouge Parfait Ballet_3

I wore a lipstick sample from Shiseido called Ballet* with this. It’s from the Rouge Parfait line, and even though I really like the color, I don’t think I’ll be buying this. I don’t like creamy lipstick too much because I always have the feeling I have it everywhere in my face. I’m trying to get over this – the color really is gorgeous.
SpaRitual Calm & Clear_Shiseido Rouge Parfait Ballet_1

As I wore this whole outfit on a regular business day, I tried to adapt my appearance to the cause! (<– fancy words for saying I wore the same as everyday, pretty much)
SpaRitual Calm & Clear_Shiseido Rouge Parfait Ballet_4

The pants are from Benetton (they really paid off, in retrospective! I was much too frugal/tight to pay 55€ for a pair of pants at first, but then I figured I’d wear them much, and my prognosis was apt! Yay!), the shirt is from Montego (at Peek & Cloppenburg). The coat is from my mum (she bought it at Strenesse) and the necklace is from Cora Kemperman.

And because I’m sometimes really bored with outfit posts, I decided to show you both nail polish and lipstick in action. Ministry of Silly Walks Style. SpaRitual Calm & Clear_Shiseido Rouge Parfait Ballet_6

How I wore it: Layla Red Taboo and Layla Metallic Chrome

Soooo you already know about my hat. It is pretty awesome, but in Vienna it is always so windy, especially in spring, that it is not a good idea to wear a hat. As a tribute to my hat, I made a lot of hat pictures, because  I can’t wait to wear it all autumn.
Layla Red Taboo_Metallic Chrome_1 (1)

I am wearing Layla Red Taboo (a holo, which is substantially useless to wear if there’s absolutely no sun, but I find it super pretty none the less), and Layla Metallic Chrome
Layla Red Taboo_Metallic Chrome_5

Metallic Chrome was absolutely horrible to apply. I buffed my nails before, wore no base coat, then tried it with base coat, ridge filler, you name it, I tried. It took me substantial patience and 4 tries before I got it on my nails. Once it is on your nails though it is a mirror. It is amazing. So worth all the application pain.
Layla Red Taboo_Metallic Chrome_8

Also I got to play around with my dad’s camera, and it has all these absurd functions, like black and white pictures where only a part stays in color, and fisheye, and all kinds of other stuff that makes taking pictures really fun, even if you have no clue what you’re doing.
Layla Red Taboo_Metallic Chrome_3

Red Taboo is amazing once you see it in the sun. It doesn’t look red to me, but pink, and I really like the color. Metallic Chrome is from their Mirror Metallic Collection, and I have never before seen polish like this. The Mirror Metallics look more like nail appliqués, and I think they are all awesome, I mean, come on, they look like liquid metal on nails!
Layla Red Taboo_Metallic Chrome_9

So far I have bought quite some Laylas, and received some in swaps also, and I haven’t been disappointed. Some of them are difficult to apply, yes, but heck they look cool!
Layla Red Taboo_Metallic Chrome_0

I’m wearing a blue sweater from GAP, scarf from FabIndia, t-shirt from H&M, jeans from WE and boots from Asos.
Layla Red Taboo_Metallic Chrome_2

Can you forgive a nail polish for horrible application if it is just so pretty?

Sunday Spam: Finger Paints

Happy Sunday!

I hope you have a lazy Sunday and that you can enjoy yourself and sit in the sun, etc. I also hope that I’ll find the time to do that! Today I have a lot of Finger Paints nail polishes to show you. Some of them I wore but couldn’t photograph in a How I Wore It post, some of them I wore and had no intention of picturing with my outfit (say, pajama or gym clothes…), so I’m showing them to you in the good old swatch style.

Comet’s Collar (over Sally Hansen Get in Lime) – sheer green shimmer/micro particle glitter polish, very pretty but I’d prefer it to be less sheer. Wearing it on its own didn’t seem an option, so I layered two coats over Get in Lime.
finger paints comet's collar_sally hansen get in lime_1

15 minutes of fame – now that’s one of a kind. This is a neon turquoise that completely ruined my camera’s lens – it is so intense, it makes my camera freak out. Also it makes my skin look tomato red in pictures, and Snowhite white in reality. A fun polish that I prefer to wear on my toes! 2 coats.
finger paints 15 minutes of fame_1

Cupcake heaven is a pretty standard baby blue. It didn’t strike me as particularly unique or interesting, but it is very cute. I had some application issues with it, but after 3 coats it was fine.
finger paints cupcake heaven_1

Gimme some sugar is a coral creme polish. It looks really nice and summery in the bottle, but horrible against my skin tone. It makes me so sad that coral looks so bad on me. 2 coats.
finger paints gimme some sugar_1

Grape Gumball is a great purple. It has silver shimmery micro particles hidden in a warm medium purple (with enough blue in there! yay!), which make the polish look  happy and shiny. 2 coats.
finger paints grape gumball_3

Pop Art Purple is more of a magenta than a purple. It is very intense, I think it can also be called neon, and I like that it looks so extremely squishy. 2 coats.
Finger Paints Pop Art Purple_2

Silkscreen Green is a horribly toxic looking green neon. I love to look at colors like this in twilight, it’s mesmerizing how nuclear this polish glows. Hence, two pictures with very little lightening to show you this polish properly. I used two coats.
Finger Paints Silkscreen Green_2
Finger Paints Silkscreen Green_1

Warhol Wannabe is another neon polish. I couldn’t catch it’s real color, as it was just too much for my poor camera! It dries to a satin finish, as most neons. I like it in this case, it somehow makes this polish more pop art. 2 coats. (First picture with flash).
finger paints warhol wannabe_1
finger paints warhol wannabe_2
Inkblot blue is, as the name suggests, a blue polish. In Austria ink looks a bit darker, but still, this is a pretty blue. I think it is supposed to be neon too, because it dries with a similar satin finish, but I don’t think this can really be called neon. Fun color though! 2 coats.FingerPaints Inkblot Blue_1

How I wore it: Cult Nails Spontaneous

Today I have not only a nail polish to show you, but also a lipstick that I got sent to try. Yeah, that happens from time to time, that I am more than just a pretty hand! Ok, that was a bad joke, I admit it. I will try to be less interested in looks and work on my wit instead. Ok, now I really should stop joking otherwise all you’ll leave me will be sny comments (which I’d understand!).

Cult Nails Spontaneous is a purple nail polish. Yes, I know that you know that I don’t like purple very much, but also, sometimes it just fits an outfit too well to remain unworn.
Cult Nails Spontaneous_Shiseido disco_essence cute as hell blush_3

Spontaneous is a greyish purple, filled with tiny pink glitters. Unless you zoom in very much or stare at your fingers closely, you’ll not be able to spot the pink glitters. What they do however, is add liveliness to this polish, which you can see from further away too.
Cult Nails Spontaneous_Shiseido disco_essence cute as hell blush_5

I wore two coats of Spontaneous, and it applied perfectly fine. Because it is not your average purple, I felt very comfortable wearing it to work too. I paired it with a blue pantsuit (pants from Benetton, jacket from Mango) and a very pale pink shirt from Kookai. The shoes are from Cate Gray (Humanic, last year) I think.
Cult Nails Spontaneous_Shiseido disco_essence cute as hell blush_4

What made the look whole, I think, was the right lipstick. I picked Shiseido lip lacquer in Disco*, which I think is an awesome pink. Totally what I like to wear! Also, I like the idea of lip lacquers although I never really felt like buying one from YSL, they just didn’t make my heart jump. The texture of the Shiseido lip lacquer was light, but it covered completely in one go, and it stayed on in this intensity until after my second coffee. After lunch only a slight tint was visible, but considering I’m in a talking and coffee drinking profession, that is surprisingly long. A winner in my books!
