Sunday Spam More Glitter!

Wishing you a fine Sunday from behind my computer. Hope you all have time to relax before the week starts again!

Today I’m showing you some glitter combinations I wore, tried out and swatched.

First up is Jessica Hot Hot Hot (over butter LONDON Trout Pout). I wanted Hot Hot Hot to be a covering glitter, but what you see below is already two coats. It is pretty and all, but I was hoping for something different.

essie a cut above (over Catrice Have a good day) is hands down my favorite pink glitter. What I like about it is the variety of sizes, but the unity in color. And the glitter payoff is wonderful – this is one coat.

H&M has been stepping up their game when it comes to nail polish. I’m wearing Purple Sprinkles (over Chanel Frenzy), which is a mix of purple glitters and holographic bar glitter. It isn’t a very dense glitter, but it works for a “pimp my office manicure” emergency. Plus, if you like purple, you’ll most probably like it anyhow.

Well, unfortunately, after I put on Purple Sprinkles, I somehow got caught somewhere and ripped a piece of skin from my cuticle. It was very painful, and I didn’t dare to change my manicure, so I just added a coat of nails inc soho street. Sorry about the picture, but I so absolutely adored soho street over Chanel Frenzy, I couldn’t pass on showing you this. And in case you were wondering, this is one coat!

Another H&M polish, Confetti Time, which I liked. It’s a mix of pink, blue and gold glitters, in different sizes (over Chanel Malice). Cute, and I can see this to be worn in many combinations.

This is a tricky combination: The base color is nails inc disco lane (total light box fail, trying to photograph the holographic glitter in there!) and I lazily painted on a silver/holographic glitter from SpaRitual called Illumination and butter LONDON Lovely Jubbly (the pink). Not my best combination.

I have a thing for multicolored glitters too, so I adored OPI Rainbow Connection (Nicka K NY138, hands down one of the best greens I own!). Nothing wrong with a little easter manicure, is there?

And the last one for today is China Glaze Marry A Millionaire on the tips (over OPI DS temptation). I totally love this glitter, and I’m so not over bar glitter yet, especially the smaller kind.

Help! I’m stuck in different dimensions – again

Those different dimensions polishes keep us busy, huh?!

Part one –> click  here.
Part two —> click here.

I received I will follow you into the dark, and I though, meh, this looks like a super boring generic silver. No! I couldn’t have been more wrong! Don’t ever think this about I will follow you into the dark!different dimension I will follow you into the dark_3

What a mistake. I applied it – it applies like a dream – and within seconds, the brushstrokes vanished. In effect, I used two coats, dream application, super quick drying time, and that polish shines!!different dimension I will follow you into the dark_2

You can see in the pictures just how shiny it is, but can you imagine that it is even more shiny in reality? I had the feeling I was wearing mirrors on my nails. different dimension I will follow you into the dark_1

Well, all in all I can only tell you that I have seldomly been more wrong in my initial assessment of a nail polish. I absolutely adore this look, the color is intense and the look overall just drool-worthy.different dimension I will follow you into the dark_4

The other different dimensions polish I have for you today is fight like a girl, a breast cancer special from Missi. It’s a glitter topcoat that consists of mainly small silver and holographic glitters, and mixed through it are pink, black and lightblue glitters.SpaRitual Camellia_different dimension fight like a girl_2

I was very happy about the glitter payoff in this one, one coat over SpaRitual Camellia was enough – Camellia on the other hand was horrible, it refused to dry. This is not what I had gotten used to from SpaRitual polishes, very frustrating.SpaRitual Camellia_different dimension fight like a girl_1

I love the combination of pink creme as a base and colorful sparkle on top.  SpaRitual Camellia_different dimension fight like a girl_4

Anyhow, fight like a girl is cute – the name is very witty and nicely chosen for the cause. In the end, I ended up giving this polish to my friend B. because she just loved it more than I did. SpaRitual Camellia_different dimension fight like a girl_3

I made a close-up for you again. Hope that you like them – if not, let me know, that will mean less work for me! :) SpaRitual Camellia_different dimension fight like a girl_41

The products in this post were provided to me for my honest review.

Sequin Digger

Today I want to show you a combination I have mixed feelings about.

I wanted SpaRitual Gold Digger for ever and a day, I thought I’d be the perfect gold! The unfortunatel reality was that it is more caramel/camel/light brown and not really gleaming gold. Maybe I should have payed more attention to the word ‘digger’ after the word ‘gold’ and I would’ve gotten the hint. In any case, it turned out to be not another gold to love, and also it is streaky. I hate streaky stuff (with a few exceptions, one being frosty whites which everyone else hates)! I used two coats, nothing special to mention here. Worst thing about this polish: It makes my hands so red!

Well. Enough disappointment, I thought, and picked up my Jordana Sequins polish, gifted to me by the lovely Kejal, who I got to meet in Mumbai (yay for twitter friends!).  And it made the manicure good again, phew. SpaRitual Gold Digger_Jordana Sequins_1

Look at the sparkliness! Sequins is a glitter topcoat consisting of small red glitters and larger pink, silver and blue hexglitters. It looks so happy over the boring gold – somehow reminds me a bit of the circus.SpaRitual Gold Digger_Jordana Sequins_3

I used one coat over Gold Digger – all the glitters were flat on the nails, and the removal was easy. And as an extra, here is a fancy close-up!SpaRitual Gold Digger_Jordana Sequins_11

Sunday Spam: Miscellaneous

Have you had a nice weekend so far? I surely did! I love lazy Saturdays and Sundays!

First up, wet’n'wild Wild Card – mostly a purplish mauve polish, but it changes to a slightly taupe or grey color. I used three coats, and the brush strokes are still slightly visible, even though the polish is completely dry.

Spa Ritual Running with Wolves is a brown shimmer polish – it’s a medium warm brown. The brushstrokes are barely visible, and I only needed two thin coats.

Essence Gold Digger is a glitter topcoat. It consists of tiny golden glitters and a bit larger red glitters. I used one coat and I must say I really like it over Spa Ritual Running with Wolves (below, and before that: one coat over Revlon Cherry Berry).

Sinful Colors Boogie Nights versus Revlon Tropical Temptation – they seemed to be the same in the bottle, so I wanted to know. They are virtually impossible to tell apart in daylight, the slight difference only shows with flash. 2 coats each.

Sinful Colors Cinderella was a polish the whole nail polish world fell for. It is very pretty indeed, especially as it has this beautiful pink flash. I used three coats though, as it didn’t level out properly.

Revlon Lemon Meringue is a beautiful pastel yellow creme. It is rather jelly like, so it had less issues in application than the average yellow pastel creme. Only downside is that it smells – it is ‘perfumed’, something I have an aversion against.

Models Own Golden Peach is a coral polish with immense golden shimmer. I love golden and silver shimmer, so it was obvious to me that I’d just love this! 2 coats.

Models Own Dusty Mauve is a grey polish that leans purple. I didn’t like this on me, even though it looked very pretty in the bottle. 2 coats.

Revlon Cherry Berry is a pretty average pink/red creme. It does look very cherry colored, so I agree with the name :) . I used two coats.

L’oréal Pink Carat is a pink creme. It’s very vibrant, but not unique, and also, L’oréal doesn’t last very long on me – I get tip wear way too quickly.  2 coats.

Coastal Scents Peony – 2 coats of a very vibrant pink. Love the color, but I think I may have 10 other polishes that are exactly the same.

Mist Stockholm Cosmos over Coastal Scents Peony – super awesome pink with a strong golden and green shimmer. I love this, and it looks just like Zoya Happi. 2 coats, first picture is with flash to bring out the green!

And last for this Sunday: Orly Pixie Dust – a blue/grey polish with silver specks in it. I used two coats – great color!

Love your life, Spirit Child!

When I was sorting out stuff I always try to get rid of some polishes as well – as much as I love them all, there are dupes, and there are the ones that just don’t look good with my skin tone. Long story short, I had once ordered this pretty Spa Ritual Mini called Spirit Child and never wore it. So I thought it might get rid of it, but you know what? Those Spa Ritual polishes hold surprises, What looked like a regular metallic red turned out to be one of the most vibrant, streak-free, glowing-from-the-inside reds I ever wore. Needless to say that this one now has a fixed place in my stash.

I used two coats, and the gold shimmer you can see in the bottle mixes with the red pigment so well, that the whole polish has sort of a glow to it, but it isn’t metallic or streaky. Drying time was surprisingly fast, and Spa Ritual makes it a point to mention that their polish is vegan. (Whatever that means when it comes to a product such as nail polish, but hey, whatever.)

I am super excited to receive the Minnie Mouse polishes in the mail soon, and I can’t wait to layer Nothin’ Mousie ’bout it over Spirit Child. But for now, Love your Life from Nicole by OPI did the trick! I had to fish out the hearts, obviously, and unfortunately the bottle shape from the NOPI bottles doesn’t help. In any case, I love the little hearts somehow, and then there are similar iridescent glitters as the ones from China Glaze Snow globe in the clear base. I used one coats of Love your Life and then I used a toothpick to place the hearts.

I’m sorry to picture spam you, but I absolutely loved this manicure, and hence I made too many pics.

What do you think about the hearts? Too much or cute?

Perfect Neon

China Glaze In the limelight. Oh so beautiful. I love the green, the neon, the shimmer, everything. I wore this proudly for 4 days, that really says it all…!

My lightbox swatches show the more blue side of this polish (aka the shimmer). I used 3 coats, and then I added a bit of glitter on my ring finger (China Glaze Snowglobe and Spa Ritual Illumination).

Here is a picture I made in daylight; it shows the green base color a bit better, and also it shows how bright the green is against my skin color!

I declare this to be my favorite neon color, so now Illamasqua Radium and China Glaze In the Limelight have to share the first place. Which is your favorite neon?

A take on the tape mani

SpaRitual Rhythm of Life is a green shimmer polish. I have to admit that after nails inc. Emerald Street I am biased against all other (emerald) greens. If you love dark greens however, you should get your hands on this one!

The application is as it is with all SpaRitual polishes in my experience: easy, smooth and wonderful. I used two coats, but I could’ve gotten away with only one, if I hadn’t made pictures.

above: daylight, below: artificial lightbelow: flash

I decided to do something fun with this mani, so I cut out some pointy shaped stripes of tape and put them on my nails and painted the tips with China Glaze Sci-Fi. I think it looks a bit weird, but fun. I also think I might get some of those scissors for arts and crafts, because I am too impatient to cut all the tapes alike.

How I wore it: Neon Gradient

This is the closest I’ll come to a tutorial I think. I’m not very good at explaining how I do my nails, and whenever I try nail art, I just give it a go and if it works, good, if not, I’ll a)start over b)give up and just wear one colour.

So when I saw thetutorial for gradients on the Nailasaurus, you know, the one everyone knows about,  I decided I have to try. I have more or less mastered the art of sponging, which works for gradients too, but it works best with glitters.

Anyhow, I received some awesome neons and I couldn’t wait to wear them all, so I decided to actually wear them all at once. So this manicure consists of only a few neons, really, namely (from thumb to pinkie):

Sinful Colors – Irish Green
Illamasqua – Rare
China Glaze – Flip Flop Fantasy
China Glaze – Pool Party
Sinful Colors – Dream On
SpaRitual – Knowledge is Power.

I use an old CD cover to put on the polish for the gradient. It looks like this:

Pre-cleanup, this is what you’ll get:

More clean up…

I hope you got the joke! Anyhow, clean-up was annoying. I put a coat of white polish underneath the neon, to make sure it’d not take 389547423671 coats to reach opacity, and therefore cleanup was meh. It was like choosing between the devil and the deep blue sea – VNL or messy clean-up….

I wore it for two days, so you’ll get two pictures of how I wore this eye-searing neon gradient. The medium blue dress is from H&M and the darkblue one is from Mango.

And this is neon me waving goodbye for today!

Glossybox Mai und SpaRitual Gewinnspiel!

As every month ends, the Glossybox arrives at my doorstep, filled with surprises. This month the Glossybox was put together in the sign of “Goldrush”- don’t ask me what they mean by it, as there was nothing golden in the box, only a lotion for men, as father’s day is coming up – maybe they mean you should find an older guy to pay for all your stuff by handing him an anti-aging lotion???

The terms and conditions of the Glossybox can be found here.

Lately, there are some extras in the boxes, that technically one shouldn’t account for, but seriously, if it’s in the box, it belongs to it and counts, if you ask me. The blush above was considered an additional favor from Glossybox, just so I mentioned for completion’s sake. In March, I mentioned that Illamasqua would be a perfect fit for a Glossybox because it is still considered a niche label, and guess what, there’s an Illamasqua lipgloss in this box! I don’t have the arrogance to say that it was all my doing and fierce lobbying, but it makes me happy that maybe someone reads my blog…

First up: Water. Yes, you read right. There is a bottle of water in this box. The aluminum bottle suggests that the creators of this brand of water decided not to pick plastic because of the high costs of production and the bad influence on the environment, and forgot to think about the fact that aluminum is barely better. Next time pick glass… and make sure people recycle! Anyhow, this is Beautywater Q10,  taste: grapefruit. I hate water with taste other than those: beer, wine, coffee, regular water. Sorry, but I’m picky! I had some other people take a sip and it wasn’t an instant hit with either of them. Smells appealing, tastes yucky.

BM Beauty Blusher and SpaRitual nail polish in Heliotrope. The mineral blusher comes in this tiny box, it’s a sample of course, but I’m not very good with mineral makeup that comes in tiny packaging, so I didn’t try it. The nail polish however I tried, and I like the quality, as always with SpaRituals, but it is not original size! It is a mini, and yes, SpaRitual sells minis, and they are ‘original’ MINI size. Original size means the large one. Anyhow, Heliotrope is a medium purple creme, dries fairly quick, and reacquires two coats. Made me think that someone isn’t reading my blog after all, because it’s purple. Have you ever heard me rave about a purple creme? I dare you…

Illamasqua lipgloss in Femme. I love Illamasqua nail polishes, I love their eye-products, their lipstick in ‘welt’ is my favorite lipstick ever, I own two other intense lip glosses (belladonna and I totally forgot) and I love them and wear them a lot. If you don’t have one, you need one.

Zoeva is a brand I’ve heard about; mainly that their brushes are supposed to be awesome, and now I find a eye crayon in this box. The color didn’t appeal to me at first, but it looks nice in combination with my regular eyeshadow colors (grey, blue, black, turquoise mainly). Also, it has amazing longevity and it clings to your eyes like ivy to a house wall – hence I’m giving it the grade A++++, one + for stay power, one + for surprising me, one + for the easy application and one + for a rather affordable price.

That was it from this month’s Glossybox, and now onto the important stuff! You can win one of 3 gift sets from SpaRitual on my blog!

The terms & conditions are fairly simple: You have to be a public follower of my blog either through Facebook or bloglovin. You have to be a resident of the European Union (no oversea territories). You have to leave me a valid email address in the form, otherwise I can’t contact you. If you don’t respond within 48 hours, I’ll draw another winner.

Fairly simple, isn’t it? :) Enjoy!

The Giveaway has now ended.

The Glossybox was sent to me for review from the company for free. The SpaRitual polishes for the raffle were given to me at free disposal.

How I wore it: SpaRitual Knowledge is Power

So, today you’re in for a treat! I’m showing you SpaRitual Knowledge is Power, which is a mindblowing Pink Neon Awesomeness Creme, or in short, PiNeAwCr. Please disregard my love to shorten things senselessly, it’s a weakness which has followed me since childhood.

Back to SpaRitual Knowledge is Power. Apart from the fact that I agree, the colour is to die for. It applies like butter, dries super quick and with a suede finish, stays on without chipping for 3 days (can you imagine, I wore the same colour for 3 days! Without messing with it!), and shines like the reflectors on my bike. I love it. A lot. 2 coats.

Above: daylight. Below: artificial light, no flash.

And this is how I wore it: with short pants from Target that I bought in Australia last year, a sweater/tshirt thing from H&M (you know one of those things that’s too thin to be a sweater but to warm for a t-shirt) and a BIG smile.

See how much the pink pops once the light is a bit low?

So what do you all say, isn’t this pink totally awesomely amazingly great?!
